The Daily Poem

     As most of you know, I am starting a daily poem. Each day I post a new poem that Mrs. Graham has given us in class. This is my post that has all the poems, my first poem is under "the inspiring Mrs. Graham." Make sure to check back daily to view the daily poem. :)

January By: John Updike
The days are short,
    The sun a spark
Hung thin between
    The dark and dark

Fat snowy foot steps
    Track the floor.
Milk bottles burst
Outside the door.

    The river is
    A frozen place
Held still beneath
The trees of lace.

Early Morning By: Hilare Belloc
The moon on the one hand,
The dawn on the other:
The moon is my sister,
The dawn is my brother,
The moon on my left and
The dawn on my right-
My brother good morning;
my sister good night.

Science By: Caitlin Bay
I know you this year
  I knew you last year
But never the year before.
  I was living without:
Metric units,
  Measuring tricks,
Silly songs of water;
  Who taught me what was what ,
And the many things that count.
  I will never know without you why:
water runs,
  And birds sing;
High in the sky above.
  Oh science teach me,
What is what,
  So that I may pass it on.
***This poem is in honer of the 1/2 lunar eclipse tonight, and the transit of Venus tomorrow, that only occurs twice every 120 years! :) I'm honored to be able to experience it!!! :) :) :) :)

  3. I love science, toooo! I can't believe you wrote this poem in such a short time. There are wonderful things tumbling out of that beautiful brain of yours. I'm so glad you're writing them down...and sharing with us! Thanks, Catx!
