The latest monster, Flanninia

                           FLANNINIA
Breeder: Alejandro Martinez
Origination: Spain
Type: The Flanninia is a custard type monster, it is named because it carries the largest supply of creamy, custardy flan. If you are starving and in need of food, the Flanninia will come to your rescue, and feed you from its supply. When its done feeding you, it will head back to the "Custard Quarters", and fill up its flan supply.
Environment: The Flanninia likes bright colors. Some people have reported sightings of them in their babies' nurseries. Flanninias LOVE babies. You can also give a Flanninia a room full of blocks and it will play for hours. They like soft fluffy things, like pillows and water beds. Don't give them a blanket, because they will get their sticky flan all over it, and only cause trouble and the loss of a lot of laundry detergent....
Size: The Flanninia can grow up to the size of a small dog. This makes it a great indoor monster.

The new (and improved) ultimate code for beginners

Okay, lets be honest-- that last ultimate code was pretty hard, so i made some levels.

LEVEL 1: Hi my name is Caitie, I am !), I am feeling  :) talking 2 my bff!!!:)

LEVEL 2:  I am #$ going on #%, my b-day is !@/09

LEVEL 3: What is my next birthday id mt current on is )(?@#?@))@ ?

Too hard, well try next time I post some ultimate code awesomeness

HINT: the punctuation marks represent other things on the keyboard. Example: ^&=67, because the "^" symbol is above the 6, and the "&" symbol is above the 7.

Monster Hunters In The Classroom

Lets get monster hunting!!! Well of course not real monsters, but imaginative ones. In third grade our classroom got a book, I forget what it's called, but it was by somebody who pretended to be a monster hunter. He wrote different information files, each a different monster. The book was always checked out of the library, but I did get it some time around. Everyone got so excited when he came for an author visit. He read us some of the book and showed us his "monster hunting gear". He wore a strange outfit, a strange hat, he had a net, and a magnifying glass. He said that he wore his outfit everywhere.
One day our teacher gave us a writing assignment to do, we got to write whatever we wanted. Me and my friend Sarah decided to work together and make a book like the one that the man wrote. We made up about 15 monsters, and then wrote a book about them! Kind of like a myth, it was about 23 pages long. I did most of the work. I had a lot of fun writing about monsters, and I would like to pursue it. On my blog I am going to create different monster files from time to time, I know if I say i'm going to do it weekly or daily, I will probably just forget about it, so i"m not making any promises!

Week #2, the weekly poem

 Winter Sun By: Caitlin Bay
In the morning when
The fog floats away,
I see you;
It's a brighter day
The Winter Sun:
My closest friend;
The morning dew:
A friend of his.

Week #1, the weekly poem

Woods By: Rachel Field
Whenever the woods I walk among
Are very green and young,
With leaves a-twinkle on every tree,
The heart begins to dance in me,
And my feet to caper from tree to tree
Over the sunny patch of greenery.

But when the woods I walk among
Are very old, with mosses hung
In thin festoons of tattered gray,
And the greens seems high and far away,
Oh, then I tiptoe from tree to tree,
For a hush is on the heart of me.

The Revised Daily Poem

I have decided to make the Daily Poem the Weekly Poem, because its hard to get on my blog every day. In the mornings I have to get ready for school, and in the evenings I want to relax, and also have to do homework. Sometimes we have plans for the evenings, I hope you all understand. Every Saturday or Sunday I will post a poem, and each poem will be a different post.

My Most Favorite Hobby

Hey, did anybody know I love to sing? Its my most favorite hobby! I don't know exactly when I started my love to sing, but it must have been somewhere in third grade, I am now in fourth. I always sing, in the shower, at recess, at home in the morning. I think I can even pester my mom a bit!
When my school was still raising money for the P.S.10 Carnival (my school is P.S.10), me and my friend Jasmin started this thing called Song O' Gram. You could purchase a song for one dollar, and we would sing it to somebody. We could do it for tables, people, classes, groups, we could do anything! All the money went to the Carnival. Sadly, we weren't very committed, we wanted to do other things with our lunch period, like talk, eat, and play hand games.
I wish that everyone could sing, and have as much fun as I did doing so. I hope to continue my "singing career", and maybe become a popular singer one day. I wish I could have been more committed in Song O' Gram, and raised more then six dollars!

My Cats, From The Beginning To The End

This blogpost will show thoughts from the start to the end of my cats history, my first cat, to my last cat, how they died, or ended up. This is the everything you need to know guide of my cats, the beginning, to the end.

Sarah, the naughty (the cats point of view vs. humans point of view)
Cats point of view
All I can think about is mama, holding me against her warm, pudgy stomach, her soft fur rubbing against my bald cheek, and her purring vibrations. I wish I could look up into her he eyes, and see her snow white chin fur, dusted with grime, and her tongue, approaching my thin coat of fur.
     Gone.
Mama is gone for good, killed by the ally bull dog. Now all I see is the same face, over, and over again, looking at me with puppy dog eyes, petting me with bald paws, and claws scratch under my ears, short ones, but it hurts.
Too rough, too mean, too cold. Too much fear.
The next thing I know, i'm in the back of a metal thing, moving swiftly, much too fast, or is it too much fear? Too much sad? All I want to do is get back in the ally, were I can see all different faces, moods, and where I know is home. Just for me, home. The next thing I know i'm lunging to the face in the front of me, they catch me. Let them have their fun, while I miss home. Just let them know this: They will never replace mama, never find a better, and safer place then my ally. I want to think happy thoughts; but I can't. All I can do now is whimper, cry, and hope i'll be able to run away to mama's spirit. Where it's soft, and warm, and safe.

Sarah the naughty, humans point of view
"Awwwww, poor little thing, all scared and cold in that muddy old ally," I say, mooning over the cat, I don't even care if it enjoyed living in that ally (which it obviously didn't), this little one goes to Heather, and cute little Caitlin. "Oooooh, kitty, my, my are you soft, pretty little thing. Hmmm, let's see what will i call you?" I say to the cat, silly me, It can't hear, i'm merely talking to my self! Just look at it, all soft and warm. Funny thing, it's a bit chubby, "have been eating all of the ally mice? I bet you're the super hero of the block."
What should I call him? Wait-her-or him? Anyway, we'll see at the clinic! Nancy, Bon-Bon, Snow, Nicholas, what should I call you? Look at those sweet eyes, and adorable smile, you just must be a girl. That's it! You're now Sarah, after that wonderful friend of Heather's Grandma. That's what i'll call you: Sarah.

January By: John Updike
The days are short,
    The sun a spark
Hung thin between
    The dark and dark

Fat snowy foot steps
    Track the floor.
Milk bottles burst
Outside the door.

    The river is
    A frozen place
Held still beneath
The trees of lace.

Early Morning By: Hilare Belloc
The moon on the one hand,
The dawn on the other:
The moon is my sister,
The dawn is my brother,
The moon on my left and
The dawn on my right-
My brother good morning;
my sister good night.

Science By: Caitlin Bay
I know you this year
  I knew you last year
But never the year before.
  I was living without:
Metric units,
  Measuring tricks,
Silly songs of water;
Who taught me what was what ,
And the many things that count.
I will never know without you why:
water runs,
  And birds sing;
High in the sky above.
  Oh science teach me,
What is what,
So that I may pass it on.
***This poem is in honer of the 1/2 lunar eclipse tonight, and the transit of Venus tomorrow, that only occurs twice every 120 years! :) I'm honored to be able to experience it!!! :) :) :) :)

the inspiring Mrs.Graham

I think everyone should be a good writer. Being a writer can help you express yourself, you can pretend you're a character from a story you write. Then you can solve your own life's problems, the way your characters do it.
In my morning school class, there is a teacher, she always brings in beautiful poetry, and reads it to us. We are currently reading "The Jungle Book", the original. It has beautiful writing, and pictures.
I really owe my morning school teacher, Mrs. Graham some thanks, for what she has done to inspire me. Thank you, Mrs. Graham.
From now on i will post a daily poem! Enjoy, and make sure to comment on them!
                   Daily Poem
The Dream Keeper By: Langston Hughes
Bring me all of your dreams,
You dreamers,
Bring me all of your
Heart melodies,
That I may wrap them,
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too rough fingers
Of the world

Comments

I want to know what everyone thinks of my blog so far. Post some ideas, comments, or things you dislike/like. Don't worry I won't be offended.

Two tales, fiction and non-fiction

How Catx Became Catx
*A tale of becoming ones true self

You might think why doesn't she have normal nickname? Like Cait, or Caity? Let me be the one to tell you this; Nicknames are not names shortened to a persons liking. Getting a nickname is just like finding out you're princess from an alternate dimension. You never knew it, no one has it, it just comes, it's meant to be. This is a tale of how I found my true self. I figure it's a combination of my love of cats; the cat, and my desperate need to find something in this world that starts with an x, then e-mail the people who make those alphabet banners that are in kindergarten classrooms and tell them I've found a solution to their problem (the x is always fox); the x.
We were riding the bus to the bowling ally for our school trip. My partner for the trip, Lauren, had fallen asleep and i was board. We finally arrived
I shook Lauren, "Wake up," I whispered, "we're here!" Laurens eyes squinted open, and she gathered her magazines and lunch bag. We were the last ones of the bus, I was afraid we would be left on the bus! Silly me!
"I can't wait!" and, "STRIKE!" were tossed across the  bowling ally as Mr. Paul nagged us to sit down, teasing along the way. With my head resting in my cupped palm I waited for my teacher, Ms. McCloskey to put in our names on the score board. Our team was last, meaning we had less time to play.
"Ok then, lets put in your names," Ms. McCloskey said, while typing in our team members first names. I was last.
"Wait you forgot the I," I corrected.
"Oh!" she laughed. Ms. McCloskey pressed the delete button, I waited for the "t" to disapear, but it never did. "Oops, the delete button doesn't work, let me see, will this work?" she pressed the "x" button, and it appeared on screen.
     "I guess that didn't work."
"Nope, we'll find another way, don't worry," Ms. McCloskey comforted
By the time she said that, children were saying "hi, Catx," and "go team Catx!"
"Wait!" I hollered as  she strutted down to the security desk to see if they could help, "I like it,"
"Ok then," she puzzled as she walked back, laughing.
As you can see, getting a nickname is not choosing to shorten your name, but it is finding your true self. That occasion reminds me of being told I was a princess of an alternate dimension...
As most of you know, I am the princess of an alternate dimension. I know, it is fiction, but it's still a good story to write!

Me, The Princess
*A tale of finding out ones true culture
Me,
As most people read this story, they will think; What a silly girl, this is just what she wants, not has. But who knows, maybe people can be princesses', even of alternate dimensions! You see, I like to keep my princess life a secret from the world. Now I realize that I can't just be treated like a simple school girl, because I am not! Now then, lets get to the story.
Ahhhhh... Christmas, it holds so many surprises'. It's now the 4th day of Christmas ( as my mother calls it ), A.K.A. candy night ( as I call it .) The sweet, spirit-lifting smell of chocolate, and twizzelers drifts up my nose, and down into my stomach. I can already taste it. I stick out my tongue to taste it.
"Tonight it's Grandma's old blueberry pie recipe!" My mother hollered from the kitchen. My eyes snap open, right, it's not Christmas, just blueberry pie night, I think, annoyed.
"Really, are you sure it's not Christmas?"
"yep, pretty sure, but if you want it to be, we can skip Tradition and do it now if you'd like?" I knew she was joking, so i stayed silent, like i had fallen back asleep. Why am I SOOO tired? I pretended to think, like my mom could read minds.
Mother,
"Is princess Kaylee home today?" a gorgeous women, with beads braided in to her hair, entered the kitchen.
"Yes, I believe she is upstairs sleeping," How old is she? Kaylee never told me about an exchange student? Why did she just walk upstairs, she doesn't know this house as well as i do!  This is only what i wanted to think, but i knew the truth. I don't know why but it sort of just blurted out; "You have NO right to search my house for my DAUGHTER!!!" Now I think; She didn't actually do anything wrong, why am i like this!? Am i possessed!!?? Now I think I might be getting a bit childish, "You have NO  right to POSESS me!!!"
"I am simply looking for your non-daughter," my eyes squinted at the word, non, daughter was fine but, non. Terrible. I know it's true, but don't want it to be, "please don't use that word, it's terrible, just terrible," I sob, as i melt to the ground.
"There, there, when you have calmed down, I will explain the situation, but you will have to be strong," the beautiful woman kneeled down, and rubbed my back. Why am I such a child?
Leenah, (the beautiful woman,)
This poor, poor woman, having to have her daughter ( I am disgusted that I have to use such a word) taken away from her. I don't want to take her away, no, but my home country needs her, bad. But why now? Poor woman, poor child, only she can set things right, or her mother, no. She needs her mother, but does she? I am wrong. Only she can save our country, only her.
Me, ( Kaylee,)

"Mom! Are you crying!?" I holler, rushing down the stairs. Nothing's wrong, she does this all the time, wait, she never does. Nothings wrong, nothing's wrong, she's all right, she always is. Ooooohhhh, I hope the door was locked!!! I am a worrier, but I worry she might be in real trouble now.
I reach the bottom of the stair's, and see a women rubbing mothers back, shushing her. Without thinking, I run into her, pushing her out of the way, and taking her place.
"We need to talk," she says.
"If it's to scold me, no. But otherwise, fine,"
       "it's not to scold you,"
       "ok then, speak up,"
"you are a princess, you will be taken away from your mother to save your home country," I stand there, stunned, half believing her, half not, as a tear drips down my cheek.

P.S.10 School Lunch

intro
School lunch is delicious to many kids tolerable to some kids. This is the latest on how children reflect on their school lunches. Hmmm I wonder..... is it good?
interviews
Many children say they dislike school lunch. One child says they love school lunch. A few children say the think school lunch is tolerable (wait--not yet.)
Lets look at some kids interviews, and onions, (which is another way of saying opinions, it's cute and foody)  of the school lunch that they receive at P.S.10 in Brooklyn NY.
      First up..... Jasmin, class 4-407

On the menu that day was:

"Trayless Tuesday Burger Bash"
Charbroiled Beef Burger Deluxe with Southwest Corn Salsa, Sweet Ripe Plantains, and optional Veggie Burger

Here is what it looked like
As you can see...
Corn salsa=ketchup
Plantains=potato poops
 and on Tuesdays, there
is a optional salad bar,
(last picture)
A.K.A.: unidentified slop

Q#1: How do you feel about the school lunch? It's nasty. I'd rather starve.
Q#2: Do you feel like the school lunch could  change? Yes, please.
Q#3: If you could change anything on the school lunch menu, what would it be? More mozzarella sticks.
Q#4: What is your favorite food on the school lunch menu? Mozzarella sticks, because of the cheese.
Q#5: How do you feel about the salad bar? I wish they had more pickles. I think the lines should be shorter. I like the balsamic vinegar.
Q#6: Do you use the salad bar? Only when the line is short.
Q#7: Do you get hungry during the day? Yes.
Q#8: Do you think we have enough time to eat? No, I think we should have 1 hour to eat our food.
I think i might have some onions on this interview, Jasmin. I think the time is a bit overreacted, do you eat the food? Probably not, so why give an hour to do nothing, when the time could be spent educating. It will only give more time for you to sit around and do nothing but... talk, and I don't think teachers are going to agree with that! Also, wishing that the lines are shorter is a bit.....well..... Lets just say it sounds like it's never going to happen, because other children want to use the salad bar too! It would be hard to convince children to squish together, and become shorter..... Maybe that's not what she meant.
Ok, lets hear another interview from.....Eliana, also from class 4-407

Q#1: How do you feel about the school lunch? It's ok.
Q#2: Do you think that the school lunch could change? Yes.
Q#3: If you could change anything on the school lunch menu, what would it be? The burgers, first I would use real meat, not use the meat washed in chemicals, and not leave them sitting on a tray all night.
Q#4: What is your favorite foods on the lunch menu? Nothing.
Q#5: How do you feel about the salad bar? It's disgusting, they put it right next to the trash can, and all the salad tastes dry and old.
q#6: Do you use the salad bar? Not a lot.
Q#7: Do you get hungry during the day? Yes.
Q#8: Do you think we have enough time to eat? Yes.
Well then, lets hear some onions. Now, Eliana, its true, it might be uncomfortable standing in line in front of a trash can, but isn't it worth it? I think you can sacrifice some bad smells for a healthy body, can't you? Hmmm.....I've been thinking about that dry and old thing you mentioned, and I agree, the salad should not be dry! Here is a tip: Wet your salad before you get the dressing, this can make it taste fresh, and new! If you don't like the salad, why would you even go to the salad bar? Are there some things that you do like? Are you just assuming that the burgers are left on a tray all night----or is it fact?
  a positive word from Roberto
Ok everyone, here's a word from Roberto, a school lunch fanatic fan. He oddly worships the school slop loves the school lunch. Here is his interview.

Q#1: How do you feel about the school lunch? I feel good about it, it tastes good.
Q#2: Do you feel like the school lunch could  change? No
Q#3: If you could change anything on the school lunch menu, what would it be?It would be mozzarella sticks, because it should taste like the ones at pizza places.
Q#4: What is your favorite food on the school lunch menu? Burgers, and chicken nuggets, because they are big burgers.
Q#5: How do you feel about the salad bar? It's good, I like the cucumbers, and chickpeas.
Q#6: Do you use the salad bar? No
Q#7: Do you get hungry during the day? No, I could go 8 hours without eating anything!
Q#8: Do you think we have enough time to eat? Deffinatly not, we should have 36 minuts.
Ok, onions, onions, onions, time for onions. Roberto, I couldn't agree more, the chicken nuggets are one of the best foods on the school lunch menu, delicous and nutritious. How will you know what is your favorite thing on the salad bar menu if you never use it! Are you sure you haven't just used once? Do you think the pizza is good? Thats what i'd really like to know, does it taste like  the pizza places? I know it doesn't for me! Well, I've never tried it, so how can I say I like it or not. I'll take your advive, maybe I will try it.....or maybe not. Are you sure you might just be able to go without food for two hours instead of eight hours? Well, maybe, maybe not. Also---the burgers--- there TINY!!! Maybe all humans have different ways of seeing bugers, because I know it i small to me!
Well, thank you, Roberto for letting us talk to you. Your contribution to this blog is apreciated. :) :)

 As you can see, many
children cry because the
school lunch tastes so bad
(not)
